We are also celebrating the award of 5 scholarships to four of the children – Charlotte, Heidi and Alex were awarded academic scholarships and Edward was awarded an academic scholarship and a sports scholarship.

The eight children were awarded a total of 13 places, as four of them sat for two or more schools.

The children’s success reflects their hard work, effort and determination to fulfil their potential and the school’s consistent, year on year success in entrance examinations to senior schools reflects the outstanding quality of the teaching staff, highlighting their ability to encourage each child to fulfil their potential. What a great start to 2012!

Results from previous years 

On Monday, several of the children from Years 5 and 6 enjoyed taking part in a Quick Sticks hockey tournament held at the UWE ground at Frenchay and the whole school enjoyed a series of CSI forensic science workshops.

On Tuesday, a very successful Open Morning was followed by several registrations for our EYFS.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Farmer Nick, who talked to our Year 6 children about ‘food miles’ whilst our children in Years 1 and 2 took part in a workshop based on the story of ‘David and Goliath’ and led by the Window Box Company. A defeat on the football pitch on Wednesday was followed by success on Thursday when six of our children from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Cirencester to take part in the ISA Cross-Country Trials. Immy and Ben ran well enough to qualify for the National Finals, so our congratulations go to them and to Rosie, Edward, Belinda and Alex who also took part.

Our week finished with Reception’s super assembly and a visit to Year 6 from Mrs Barbara Bell, author of their Latin textbook, Minimus. Small wonder that the children enjoy their school days so much!
